"The Pyrenean Castle" is a masterpiece by the artist René Magritte. The painting was commissioned by artist and long-time friend Harry Torzyner who chose to illustrate a large rock with a castle on top. He also added the suggestion of a bright sky and a dark sea "for above the dark sea rises the rock of hope, crowned by a fortress, a castle". With this representation, the artist René Magritte presents us with the ideal, inaccessible castle.
René Magritte painted this picture in 1959.
